There are different types of dog breeds in the world today. We all know that a dog breed is a distinct type of breed that exhibits certain characteristics. It can be categorized into several types depending on their appearance and behavior. However, there are similarities among all the types of dog breeds and some dog breeds simply look like a lot of other dog breeds aside from their characteristic traits. Let us discuss the most common dog breeds and their distinctive traits.
The working dog breeds are usually used by humans as companion animals in the role of herders, guide, herders, or herding animals. Herding dogs possess inherent instinct to lead cattle, goats, reindeers, or sheep depending on the direction they desire them to go in no matter the size of the animals they are leading. However, working dog breeds also have a keen sense of smell which makes them a good choice when it comes to picking up scents of lost companions while working on farms or plantations. They can also detect the presence of predators such as snakes or wild boars.
The other type of dog breeds which are service animals include guide, rescue, and service dog breeds. These are specially bred animals that are trained to assist people with disabilities whether physically or mentally. Examples of these service animals are; guide dogs that are trained to aid the blind, hearing-impaired, or physically handicapped; rescue dogs that are bred to serve forgotten, injured, neglected, or abused animals; and service dogs that are bred especially for assistance functions such as pulling a wheelchair, assisting a sickly or disabled person, assisting a child or pet in crisis, etc.
The next type of dog breeds to train and to find the easiest dog breeds to train are those that respond well to praise and treats. This type of dog breed is very well trainable as they respond positively to positive reinforcement, especially when being praised for simple tasks like sitting, walking, or even training on commands. These dogs also respond well to affection such as playing and hugging.
The final type of dog breeds that are service animals that must meet any city requirements are service and companion dogs. Companion dogs are dogs that are primarily used as assistance to humans and they help in all kinds of activities such as; waiting, traveling, bathing, or carrying out other duties required by their human companions. Companion dogs are also referred to as service dogs as they perform tasks specifically for their owners such as; looking after an ill person, pulling a wheelchair, helping children with special needs, or assisting physically handicapped persons. On the opposite end of the spectrum are service dogs who are mostly employed by law enforcement agencies. Service dogs are also very important to many families as they protect both the family members and the pets from potential harm.
Most of us know that service dogs are allowed to enter most public places including hospitals, nursing homes, mental institutions, schools and military bases. However, some locations do have policies limiting where service animals can go. It is best to check with local policies to be sure that your dog will be allowed entry to a particular location before you take your dog there. Another good reason to bring a dog to the public is that most dogs will act more enthusiastically at places that they know are going to be a fun and exciting experience rather than in a place that they are not familiar with. For example, a dog might show up at the doctor’s office happy to have the pain medication, but he will probably not greet the nurses as eagerly as he would at a friend’s house.
Some cities and towns have rules and regulations about owning certain dog breeds. In some areas you can own a dog, but you must get a permit in order to own a working dog. In other places, the laws are very relaxed with regards to service animals. Your local city or town may not even require a permit for a working dog if the dog is trained and certified to work. The exception could be if the dog belongs to an animal welfare organization that requires licenses for all of their workers.
Dog breeders have several advantages over adopting a purebred dog. They tend to be less expensive than many purebreds, they can provide much better health care, they are less likely to be exposed to illness or disease. However, there are still several disadvantages associated with owning dogs as pets. Dogs will get sick and get hurt. If you have a puppy, you will have to watch him or her and make sure that the puppy doesn’t get into something nasty like puppy chow. If you have older dogs, you will need to care for them properly.
