Common Dog Breeds and Their Health Issues

Golden Retrievers and Lhasa Apsos are common dog breeds. A Golden Retriever can be very loving and fun to have around. They are wonderful companions for children. Goldens are very alert, have a strong sense of smell and love to please. However they also are prone to developing hip dysplasia, cataracts and Von Willebrand’s disease.

The Morkie has many health issues as well. These include breathing problems, skin irritations and respiratory infections. Morkies are prone to develop allergies from fleas, ticks and dirt. Morkies also can suffer from skin irritations like ringworm. They also have an abnormally long and wide smile, making them a great favorite dog breed for people who like to see their pets happy.

The Russell Terrier may live to an old age. They have inherited many health issues from their parents. They have Von Willebrand’s disease, allergies, asthma, heartworms, parvo virus and heartgard disease. They have been known to develop location patellae, which is a condition where bone rubbers deform over the knee cap in older dogs. They may live up to ten years if they get medical treatment for their luxation.

The Bichon Frise also has several health concerns including hip dysplasia, tumors, congenital defects, allergies, eyelid problems and genetic eye problems. These breeders sometimes do not give enough exercise or sunshine to the dogs. They may suffer from ear infections, skin irritations, ear mites and breathing troubles. They can live for only two years if they are not treated with medicines and if they get proper care and veterinary checkups.

The Golden Retriever enjoys a long life but there are some health issues as well that you should know about. One of the most common disorders is palatial palsy. This disorder causes the brain to lose its memory. The dogs with this disorder will be unable to recognize people or animals and will simply stare at them. Their owner will only be able to recognize them after they stand on their own or after they repeat what they have said.

The Lhasa is a very beautiful dog but there is a problem with breeding it. It is prone to serious health problems including epilepsy and hypoglycemia. This breed is susceptible to the genetic, degenerative disease called the lhasa albino. This disease occurs when the body lacks the right amount of melanin. Owners must keep in mind that breeding lhasa dogs will result in these health problems as they are prone to all three.

The Cocker Spaniel has an average life span of ten to twelve years. They are highly intelligent and are capable of working both as watchdogs and as house pets. There are no major medical concerns included in the Cocker Spaniel’s coat and they tend to shed less than other dogs. This breed does not shed as much as other long-haired breeds, but they still require a yearly shampoo to maintain optimal health.

The Australian Shepherds tend to be very affectionate toward their owners and make great companions. These dogs may live up to twenty years if proper care is practiced. Although these dogs are prone to develop certain inherited diseases, like the short leg syndrome, they can live for several more years. Short legged dogs are prone to develop luxating patellas, and may live for longer if the affected puppy is taught to walk properly.

The Cardigan dog breed is another long lived, healthy breed that tends to have only a few inheritable problems. It is a solid, muscular breed that tends to be cheerful and eager to please. These dogs can live for seven to ten years if they are well cared for and have access to a variety of family pets.

The Doberman Pinscher is an athletic breed that has an average lifespan of fifteen to sixteen years. They are naturally friendly and gentle. However, there are a number of inheritable medical concerns included in the breed which may shorten the lifespan. These problems include glaucoma, hemophilia A, and panleukopenia. These dogs are prone to develop eye disorders and are at risk for developing glaucoma. Eye disorders can cause blindness.

The collie has a long history as one of the most popular pet dogs. They are highly intelligent, playful, and loyal and are considered to be one of the most ideal pets for families with young children. Their long and attractive hair allows them to be groomed easily and their delicate skin is prone to a number of diseases. However, despite these shortfalls, the Irish setter is still one of the most popular and common dog breeds.
