He is extremely quiet and laid back, but loves to play and chase after the smaller dogs in the area. Our dog loves to be the big dog in the family, but sometimes we have to send him home alone for a few days because he can be a bit destructive.
The other dog on our list of dog breeds information is the Akita. My husband has owned this great dog for over fifteen years. He has taken us on many fishing trips through the Southern states, and has become part of our family. We purchased our Akita puppy from a breeder in Alabama, and he was eight weeks old when we brought him home. We absolutely love our dog and have always wanted an Akita for our family.
We have had some challenges since we brought him home. Most dogs love a bath, but ours has never taken a bath since he was a puppy. Also, since he is so small, any type of water can drown him, including his own water. So every time he needs to go, he goes in our bath tub. This is fine for most dogs, but it certainly wasn’t for our Akita.
Because he likes to get wet, it is important that we bathe him on a regular basis, even though he usually gets dirty because of all the chasing he does. Our veterinarian prescribed a shampoo that is specially formulated for dogs like ours, but because he was so small we could not get him to use it. Plus, his coat was so lanky, it took a few days to grow out and we did not want to get him another bath before he was done with it. Finally we gave up and decided to give him a regular bath. He now has a collar and leash, and while he still does a little smell around, he no longer rips our shirts off.
While he is a little skittish around new people, he does get friendly with all the other dogs at the park. It is a sad fact that all the other dogs prefer to be left alone by themselves. But that is just what he needs to learn. If you don’t want to get a bath for him because he is too small, you can purchase a dog shampoo that is designed for smaller dogs like ours.
One more note: when it comes to the dog’s health and breeds information, there are a lot of things that you need to consider. Some dogs can be prone to certain illnesses, some are more apt to develop certain conditions, and some are prone to certain behavioral problems. Before purchasing a dog, it would be wise to take the time to learn about all these possible issues and the dogs tendencies.
